unnumbered title page, roman or arabic for prelims, arabic for main text), and 2. use different page styles for different types of content, at least as many styles, as there are numbering schemes (e.g. So, there are two important things here: 1. Click inside a footer on the second page (notice that it says: "Footer (FrontMatter)" now) and insert page number as usual (click on the little arrow beside "Footer (FrontMatter)" -> Insert Page Number). Write your stuff (from your example, that would be the Table of Contents).Įdit "FrontMatter" and "MainMatter" page styles (right click on a page style in the Styles palette -> Modify) and activate footers.
PAGE NUMBERS LIBREOFFICE MANUAL
Go to "Insert -> More Breaks -> Manual Break" again, choose "MainMatter" for page style, tick "Change page number" if you need to reset the numbering so that the next page number starts with "1". Write your stuff (in your example, that would be the Bibliography, and, when finished, press "Enter" for new paragraph. You will see "FrontMatter" at the bottom of the window. Go to "Insert -> More Breaks -> Manual Break", then choose "FrontMatter" for page style, and tick "Change page number" if you wish the next page number to start with "1" (otherwise, leave it unchecked). At the bottom center of the screen you'll see "TitlePage".
When finished, press "Enter" to create an empty paragraph, then go to Styles palette and in Page Styles double click on "TitlePage" style to apply it to the current page.
Type your title and other stuff you need on the title page. But if you want to start numbering from the ToC, and continue the same numbering for the rest of the document, you may not need a separate page style. If you want to create a separate page style for the Table of Contents, you can. You will need at least three page styles: for title page (create a page style named, e.g., "TitlePage" in Styles palette (F11) you can use "Create from selection" in "Page Styles" dialog to match the default page style you set in previous step), for prelims (create a page style named "FrontMatter"), and for main text (create a page style named "MainMatter"). Set page dimensions and margins as needed (Format -> Page Style). And, you didn't reset page numbering when applying "Convert 3" page style to the Table of Contents page.Ĭreate a new document in Writer. In both cases, you reset page numbering and it's only natural that you'll end up with page 1 on both pages. In your document, you used two different page styles within Bibliography: "Convert 1" for the first page of the bibliography, and "Convert 2" for the second one. I did try posting this on the ASK forums, but they have delted it for no reason. Sort out the page numbers as above and share a link, so i can paste the actual sodding book content into it? THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, the book needs to be sent off today.
PAGE NUMBERS LIBREOFFICE DOWNLOAD
There is no logical reason for this or way to correct it that I know of.Ĭan someone please download the file here:
When trying to amend this again by re-clicking "format > Title page" I have noticed now that it has some how now started thinking the second page in the file is page 3 (so goes from pg1 to pg3). But the TOC page is given as page 4 (i.e the page numbering did not reset). So i tried pressing "format > title page" and changing it to convert only the first THREE pages to title pages and then reset numbering. Initially I had page numbering starting the page AFTER this (4th page in the file), however, I HAVE to change that.
There should be THREE title pages and then page numbering starts at one (the table of contents page).
